You just gotta love this photo “op” taken in the Rose Garden on 10/16 and now making the media rounds across the country, the ultimate boost to the pharmaceutical industry. No wonder the stock markets seem to love the current political dysfunction in D.C. today. Could anything possibly do more to raise the stock price of companies which manufacture meds for treating nausea!

Question: What could possibly top this photo in terms of defining tweedledee and tweedledum?

Answer One: Anyone who could look at this photo for more than five seconds without becoming positively ill.

Answer Two: Anyone who would look at this photo for more than five seconds, let alone blog about it. 🙂

Am I going to start screaming about whether these “leaders” are good for the country or bad for the country? Or even just good or bad? Or that our health care issues will now soon be resolved under their “capable” joint “leadership,” as they remarkably suggest? Seriously? Really? Nope. Hardly. Not at all. No one is going to change their views about those matters based on anything I might say here. Besides, the picture says it all. No help from me necessary.

Nevertheless, what boggles my mind is how The Donald could trash McConnell as badly as he has for the past month or two and then think he can just say all is well between the two of them and anyone would believe that. A close second is how McConnell could bring himself to stand next to The Donald and gaze at him adoringly as if The Donald had not said all the things about McConnell that he has of late. Has he no pride? Has he no integrity? Has he no spine? You can only imagine what McConnell was saying to himself as The Donald jabbered away and the photographers clicked away. But, sadly, what matters is that his embarrassing deference encourages The Donald to believe that anyone actually buys any of this nonsense.

What is newsworthy to me about this photo is not the suggestion that all is suddenly well between these two “leaders” or that they are about to resolve our health care morass but rather that anyone out there looking at this photo might actually be influenced by it, might actually somehow rely on it, might actually think it worth looking at. Besides me.
