THE PUPPET MASTER, prequel to THE AMENDMENT KILLER, coming to a bookstore near you on January 8, 2019.

If you’ve read THE AMENDMENT KILLER, you (hopefully!) remember, Roger Tuttle, then approaching the end of his first term as President of the United States. Known to some as POTUS. As the AMENDMENT KILLER was drawing to a conclusion, Tuttle was getting ready to run for reelection for a second term. Is Tuttle someone you’d really care to see running our country . . . again?
* * *
As you’ll learn when (again hopefully!) you soon read THE PUPPET MASTER, which took place earlier in Tuttle’s first term, he was no saint then either. Here’s a taste of what was on Tuttle’s mind as THE PUPPET MASTER was playing out.

Manny Reyes was my trusted White House Chief of Staff. That’s right, I trusted Manny. Obviously, I shouldn’t have. It was Manny who recommended and brought that strange, strange man into the fold, under our tent you might say. His name was Tommy Thomas. I didn’t come to learn how seriously over the top sick that guy was—until it was too late!
Yeah, it was Manny who brought Thomas on, took him under wing, wound him up, and turned him loose. All I did was . . . wind Manny up, turn Manny loose. Manny was my chief of staff. Who would I rely on to manage things, keep them in check, if not Manny? It was Manny who created this . . . mess. Right?
But who will people blame if this all comes out? Manny? Or me? Can I count on Manny to take the fall if that becomes necessary? Will Manny do that for me? He’s supposed to. That’s his job, isn’t it? But will he? The way he’s supposed to. Or will he mess that up too? Like he’s messed up everything else.
And will it really matter? Will people understand? That it was Manny. Not me. Or will they just blame me, POTUS, because, after all, it did happen on my watch. Because the buck does stop here, with me. On my watch.
Doesn’t it?
