My alt-left friends tell me there’s no such thing as “alt-left.” They tell me there is only alt-right but no alt-left.

So I asked my alt-left friends what the meaning of alt-right is. They told me it includes white supremacists, neo-Nazis and KKK members. I was fine with the specific groups they named, but I thought their reference to “includes” was a bit suspect. When I probed further I got the impression that alt-right is actually code for any person who takes a position different than my alt-left friends, however they choose to identify themselves.

Consider, then, the following “social justice” newsletter recently posted at the University of Colorado calling for a nationwide ban on veterans as students. The “social justice” proponents claim that the military is a “white supremacist organization” and that (I guess “all”) veterans have been “permanently tainted” by military culture, causing “many” (I guess that’s a number less than all) students to be “frightened” by their presence. Veterans (to be clear, that’s all veterans), they conclude, should be restricted to trade schools so colleges will feel “safe.”

So, it follows, then, I guess, that any veteran who claims the constitutionally guaranteed express right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness includes the right to go to college is therefore alt-right. So, alt-right “includes” white supremacists, neo-Nazis, KKK members and our military veterans.

Maybe it’s just me, but I think these advocates of “social justice” are a far greater threat to our country today, and what we stand for, than a bunch of silly, outdated white supremacists, neo-Nazis and KKK members. Of course they are repugnant, but a serious threat to anything today?

So, would it really be a such a stretch then to call these deep-thinkers alt-left? Actually, I think calling these great minds alt-left is way too kind. There must be a more profound label for them than alt-left.
